A specialist in podiatry and orthopedics, this 100% French company has been developing and producing podiatry and orthopedic devices since 1998.
Family-owned and created by an entrepreneur specializing in silicone gels and two French podiatrists, it now belongs to the Millet laboratory.
Based in Loriol-sur-Drôme, Epitact boasts 100% French manufacturing and has been developing innovative products for over 20 years thanks to its unique technological expertise. This expertise has enabled Epitact to create a revolutionary silicone gel: EPITHELIUM 26®.
The flagship material: Epithelium 26®
Origin
The brand seeks to develop protections with mechanical properties close to those of certain human tissues in order to offer optimal comfort.
This is why Epitact has imagined and created the very first silicone gel reproducing the mechanical and viscoelastic characteristics, very closely resembling human tissue.
Epithelium 26® gel is a synthetic viscoelastic soft material resulting from a blend of several silicones. Its main objective was to relieve pain caused by the loss of the plantar cushion with age. This gel helps distribute pressure evenly thanks to its characteristics similar to those of the plantar cushion.
Note that its properties do not deteriorate over time and therefore it has a long lifespan.
This objective was largely achieved since, due to the success obtained, Epitact decided to develop two other similar gels: EPITHELIUM 28 and 29.
Use
Epithelium can be used in two different ways:
- Made of 2.2 mm thick silicone sheet, to be cut beforehand in order to be grafted into custom-made foot orthoses (at the level of the metatarsal heads).
- In the form of tubes or even 1mm thick finger cots to protect the toes from pressure and friction.
The Epitact range
Silicone plates
As seen above, the products offered by Epitact include soft, elastic, non-adhesive silicone plates measuring 20 cm x 20 cm. Since the gel layer is glued between two layers of fabric, long-term effectiveness is guaranteed.
Plantar orthoses
Epitact also offers orthotics in various forms (rings, tubes, finger cots). Due to their low gel thickness (1mm), the orthotics do not generate discomfort and no pressure in the shoe.
Diversification
Epitact is diversifying with its moisturizing cream, designed for chiropodists and podiatrists. This 100% natural cream can be used in the office after a treatment. It absorbs easily into the skin and provides immediate protection thanks to its avocado oil-based formula.
